Best Paper Award
Franklin V. Taylor Memorial Award
IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society will present the “Franklin V. Taylor Memorial Award” for the best oral presentation and paper at SMC’2013. An achievement Plaque and a honorarium award (USD $500) will be given. The honorarium is split equally among multiple coauthors who also each receive a Plaque.
The eligibility criteria for the competition are:
- Five semi-finalists will be selected from all the papers submitted and accepted to SMC’2013.
- One author of each of the five semi-finalist papers is required to attend the conference and present their paper in a special Best Conference Paper award session. Only an author of the paper can present the paper.
- A panel of judges at the special Best Conference Paper award session will judge each paper on the presenting author’s effective oral presentation, and on the quality, and technical merit, of the paper itself.
- The presenting authors of the five semi-finalist papers are to attend the Conference Banquet where the winner will be announced.
IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Best Student Paper Award
IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society will present the “IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Best Student Paper Award” to recognize the best oral presentation and paper by a student at SMC’2013. An achievement Plaque and a honorarium award (USD $500) will be given. The honorarium is split equally among multiple student coauthors who also each receive a Plaque and a ticket to attend the Awards Banquet at SMC’2013.
The eligibility criteria for the competition are:
- Five semi-finalists will be selected from all the student papers submitted and accepted to SMC’2013.
- One student author of each of the five semi-finalist papers is required to attend the conference and present their paper in a special Best Student Paper award session.
- A panel of judges at the special Best Student Paper award session will judge each paper on its technical quality, presentation quality, and the presenting student’s ability to communicate and respond to questions concerning the topic of the paper.
- The presenting student must be a major contributor to both the written paper and the results described in the paper, and must be at least a half-time registered student when the paper was completed.
- The presenting student is the first or second author of the paper. Also, only a student author can present the paper; no non-student authors are allowed to do so.
- The presenting authors, as well as any other student authors of the five semi-finalist papers who are at the conference, are to attend the Conference Banquet (free banquet tickets will be provided to them) where the winner will be announced.
